Feeling Stressed? Tension? Anxiety?

Nayan Sharma

If tension, stress, anxiety is an occurring issue today, here is a solution that can provide instant relief and help place you in a more favourable state of mind, necessary to produce results to deal with the cause/s of this tension.

Often, we blame a certain situation or what someone said as the reason for our stress. But, the actual cause lies within us.

How would you know you are even stressed?

A: More than likely, you would be experiencing a headache, tense muscles, shallow breathing, a feeling of unease, lack of appetite, lack of sleep, dropping of shoulders, speaking really fast or really slow, etc.

So, the state of 'stress' can actually be defined by those symptoms that we feel in our body.

The truth is, we can CHOOSE how we react to any situation in any way we want. We can CHOOSE which emotions to feel at any given moment in time.

The key word here is CHOOSE. Most of the time, we resemble unconscious patters to events or circumstances. We are by default, making a choice, but because our patterns and habits are so in-grained, we never feel like we really are making a choice. This is why we hear people say in times of stress, "why is this happening to me?" In a way, they are right. This situation is happening to them. But, the larger truth is that situations are always happening. They are questioning this one, because it is a situation they don't prefer. Situations are happening every single minute of the day. Some favourable, some less favourable. Some are in our control, some not so.

Most of us, tend to sway with the situations or circumstances in life we experience. So, if a situation is what we deem 'good,' then we will feel happy, walk around with a smile on our face, but if the situation is deemed 'not good', then we will be miserable, grumpy and potentially resort to destructive action.

This is the primary reason for the inconsistency we experience in life. This is the primary reason for our suffering.

SOLUTION:  Get conscious, practice consciousness NOW. Be in the present moment. Do that by feeling your feet touch the ground when you are walking or feel yourself breathe. Observe the environment around you. Use your 5 senses. Only then, will you know you are here and now in the present moment. By doing so, the voice within your mind stops or mellows and as you become highly conscious, CHOOSE what state of mind is best for you to deal with a situation.

If the situation is out of your control, i.e: There is absolutely nothing you can do to change it, then let it go. Let the situation float away in the ocean to the far distance. It doesnt matter. It is what it is. Accept it. Resisting the moment, is the cause of the tension you feel.

If the situation is in your control, then, in your conscious CHOSEN state, make a list of what you can do to change it or fix it, and then take massive action to achieve that.

That is it. Life isn't too difficult, but it can be for many, because of the unconscious patterns we tend to have.

If you don't quite understand what I mean by an unconscious pattern, ask yourself this: Is there something your partner or a family member or friend can say that annoys you every single time? That, every time they say a particular sentence, it makes you furious and results in you fighting or yelling back?  That is a unconscious pattern. It is a reactive pattern. We may not like it, but we don't have to react that way. The problem is that the reaction of anger is hardwired, sometimes literally with one sentence from a particular person. The only way to break this pattern is by practising consciousness. If you find yourself highly conscious at the time when they say it, you will find you have a feeling of control in deciding how best you want to react to the situation.

SUMMARY:

  1. Practice being present. Be conscious NOW. If you are at your desk, feel your fingers typing on the key board, if you are walking, feel your feet touch the ground. Whenever you drift, bring yourself back into consciousness, by using your senses to observe your environment. Doing this will allow you to be able to CHOOSE how you want to tackle any situation life throws at you.
  2. Decide whether you can control a situation or not. If you can, make a list of action to take and then DO IT. If it is out of your control, then let it go, close your eyes and imagine the situation float out to sea. Accept and move on.
  3. If you are feeling tension right now, lift your chest, pull your shoulders back, concentrate on slowing your breathing and practice consciousness. Practising consciousness will turn the voice in your head off.

NOW, you are in total control of yourself, so no matter what life throws at you, you are in the prime position to deal with it successfully!
