Monday Motivation: ACTION! ACTION! ACTION!

The Results Room

On this page, you will find case studies involving highly successful people. Examples will be shown of them following the principles of Empire State of Mind and how their state of mind affects their performance and also what happens when they don't follow the principles.

This page is a great way to learn and reinforce the principles that will ensure long term, consistent success.

Monday Motivation: ACTION! ACTION! ACTION!

I have been impressed with the urgency of doing. Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Being willing is not enough; we must do
— Leonardo Da Vinci

Earlier today, a V.I.P behind the Empire State of Mind, summarised an interesting concept:

Knowledge is ok, but it is moderately low in terms of significance towards achieving success. Lots of people have knowledge. In the world today, acquiring knowledge is one of the quickest and easiest things to do. For most people, a smartphone is their life!

But, it doesn't mean anything. Filling our brains with information that is unapplied, is an utterly useless task.

Another interesting thing happened today. I was watching Extreme Makeover a TV show on the Lifestyle Channel, where a team of people help rebuild an underprivileged person's home to make their life easier. On this particular episode, it was about improving a young quadriplegic man's life and his ability to get rehabilitation in his home. He was a great spirit, a true inspiration, as his attitude was to smile no matter what his circumstances in life are.

My mum loves these shows, and we were both so moved by this, but I realised while watching it, what is the point of getting inspired by this kid? Will we just forget it 1 hour later? It usually happens that way. Can you remember a time when you felt moved and touched by a story but a little while later it had no significance to you?

Upon realising this, I said to mum, "there is no point getting inspired by this if we don't take something out of it and apply it to our own lives. Your Doctor said it will be difficult for you to run again or be highly active due to arthritis in your knee, but here is a kid who has been told he can't ever walk again and they had 3 people on the show who were told the same thing, but they were so determined that 7-10 years later they were able to defy medical expertise and walk. So, if this is going to hold any importance in our lives, we have to use this for ourselves. Make it worthwhile."

She agreed and totally saw the point.

Mum felt like she had no excuse anymore to not put in her best efforts to improve her physical condition.

Whatever you believe is what will happen. If you think growing old means everything slows down, well that is what will happen. If you listen to people who say you will never walk again, then that is what will happen. Our mind and heart have power beyond anything that has been physically created by man. So an opinion, ultimately holds no weight until we believe in it, ourselves.

This post isn't necessarily about what is possible but it is more about one simple fact:

Don't be motivated by things if you aren't going to turn it into fuel for your pursuits in life. Search for fuel in everything you do, in everything you hear and see. Find inspiration and like wood being placed in a fire, use it, burn it, and take action.

Do not be fooled by temporary motivation and do not be fooled by theories and analysis, if it can't be applied.

This boy is an inspiration and whilst Mum will use his story to bring her knee back to healthy action, I used this kids story to remind myself how precious life is and that I will CHOOSE to smile no matter what life throws at me. Like one of the major principles behind Empire State of Mind, decide who you want to be NO MATTER WHAT. That is where consistency comes from.

No more talking....

Please undergo all your rehabilitation under medical supervision. Taking action does not mean being irresponsible and being unaware of consequences.
